When is 59 just as good as $225,000. When it's your 18-hole score in a PGA Tour event — at least Paul Goydos thinks so. Goydos, age 51, is the defending champion of the Allianz Championship and won $225,000 when he beat Gene Sauers by a single... He is also one of just six golfers to shoot a 59 in a PGA Tour event, when he did it the opening round of the 2010 John Deere Classic on the TPC Deere Run course. Only five other PGA Tour players have finished with a 59 in tournament play: Al Geiberger (1977 Memphis Classic), Chip Beck (1991 Las Vegas Invitational), David Duval (1999 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic), Stuart Appleby (2010 Greenbrier Classic) and... Goydos said the only other time he came close to shooting 59 was in the first round of 1999 Byron Nelson Classic, when he shot 28 on his front nine — "which included a ball in the water" — but finished with a 62. Goydos ended up being somewhat... Woods shot 61 to take the first-round lead, while Price shot 63, in what Goydos said, "is probably the lowest group score on the PGA Tour of all time.
